What information is needed for a commercial auto quote?

Four things decide your price: the business, the vehicles, the drivers and the way the trucks are used. Have these details nearby when you call, and a licensed agent can usually quote your operation in a single conversation.

The checklist

Have this ready before you dial

You do not need a perfect packet. Give us what you have and we will tell you what the carrier still needs before binding.

Your business

  • Legal name and entity type (LLC, corporation, sole proprietor)
  • Address where vehicles are garaged overnight
  • Years in business and a description of what you do
  • Federal tax ID or DOT / MC number if you have one

Every vehicle

  • Year, make and model
  • VIN from the registration or door jamb
  • Gross vehicle weight and body type (van, pickup, box truck, dump)
  • Stated value or current loan / lease balance
  • Any mounted equipment, trailers or lift gates

Every driver

  • Full name, date of birth and driver license number
  • Years of commercial driving experience
  • Accidents, tickets or suspensions in the last three to five years
  • Any driver under 25 or over 70 on the policy

How the vehicles are used

  • Radius: local, intrastate or interstate

  • What you haul, including whether it belongs to customers
  • Overnight parking: yard, street, driveway or gated lot
The call

What happens after you dial

No hold queue, no call center script, no follow-up form. Here is the actual sequence.

  1. 01

    You describe the operation

What the trucks do, where they run and who drives them. This shapes which carriers we approach first.

  2. 02

    We gather the details

Driver licenses, VINs and the current policy if you have it. Missing pieces are noted so nothing stalls later.

  3. 03

    We shop the markets

Your account goes to the carriers that write your class of business. We compare limits and deductibles, not just premiums.

  4. 04

    You decide, we bind

Approve the quote on the phone, pay the down payment, and we bind coverage with ID cards and certificates to follow.

Questions

Quote questions, answered

What owners ask before the first call.

What information is needed for a commercial auto quote?

Your business name and entity type, the garaging address, a driver list with license numbers and dates of birth, and each vehicle year, make, model, VIN, weight and value. We also need your radius, annual mileage, what you haul and any accidents or violations in the last three to five years.

Can I get a commercial auto quote without a VIN?

Usually yes. Year, make, model and body type are enough for an initial indication. The VIN is needed before a policy can be bound, because carriers verify vehicle weight, safety features and value from it. Call 281-445-1381 and we can start with what you have.

How long does a commercial auto quote take?

Most single-vehicle quotes can be worked up during the call. Fleets with several drivers and vehicles may take a day if a carrier needs to review loss history. We tell you up front what is missing and what the carrier is waiting on, instead of leaving you with an unanswered email.

Do I need my current policy to get a quote?

It helps but it is not required. Your declarations page shows current limits, deductibles, vehicle values and the policy period, which makes an apples-to-apples comparison faster. If you cannot find it, we can quote from scratch and compare afterwards.

Ready with the VINs? Let's get numbers.

Call and we will work through the vehicles, drivers and radius together. Most single-truck quotes are done in one call.
